Enter this great glass vessel, set on the Moselle island, and contemplate the works that inhabit it: dream of the Gallo-Roman pantheon populated by hybrid creatures, ponder classical landscapes to guess the moment when the painter seized the light, and be troubled by contemporary productions.

To mark the 25th anniversary of its renovation, the Musée départemental is offering a new permanent tour of its Fine Arts collections. This large-scale operation has profoundly altered the visitor experience. Visitors will be able to admire almost 200 works of art, taking them from the 16th century to the early 20th century, over an area of almost 860 m², almost double the surface area since the museum was reopened in 1992. The new presentation showcases the immense wealth of the Beaux-Arts collections, including paintings, sculptures and objets d?art. Works by major artists such as Rembrandt, de La Tour, van Goyen, Pannini, Claude Gellée, Furini and Vlaminck are featured. Last but not least, more than 110 works are on view, after decades in storage and extensive restoration work. They promise to surprise even the most seasoned visitor.
To mark the occasion, the mediation program has been revamped, allowing visitors to make the works their own through a variety of means.
Guided tours led by mediators are available for groups by prior arrangement. Audioguides are also available (French, English, German) to accompany visitors as they explore the museum.
