In the heart of the city, in a Renaissance hotel, the municipal museum Au fil du papier is the only museum in France to present such a large collection of lacquered papier-mâché objects
From the snuffbox to the Second Empire salon, the objects presented were produced in Europe in the 19th century
The museum also recounts the history of the city of Pont-à-Mousson: its medieval origins around the port on the Moselle, the creation of the first university of Lorraine in the 16th century, the life of the Grand Marshal of the Palais Duroc, the history of the Adt family and the papier-mâché industry in Pont-à-Mousson, the history of the foundries (Pont-à-Mousson SA) and of the Imagerie Mussipontaine.
